AI is a very contentious topic to some, perhaps most. I will say at the very start: I have and will use AI in Dicekai. 99% being art and throwing “ideas” against a wall. The primary concern from what I’ve seen is an aversion to AI art.
I truly wish I could fork over the money to pay artists for all the wonderful art I want in Dicekai. However, because this is going to be a free game, dispersed or sold at cost, I will not be spending money where I do not need to right now. Should you want to support artists yourself, I will be accepting donations to help transition art in Dicekai. Any donations that specify that they are for the art, will be set aside. I will be transitioning each picture piece by piece when funds are available. I will do so piece by piece. If this is not something you can get behind, then I understand.
If you are an artist and you want to make art for Dicekai to replace the AI art, then please make your submissions to… Well, for right now use the Contact the Dice page and I’ll get back to you on it. I will not use submissions without an explicit understanding between all parties.
Response to Key Points Against AI
1) AI can’t generate good images- Yes, I know. I scrub though about 20-40+ images to get one decent one. I work with what I can.
2) You can’t copyright AI- Ok.
3) AI is trained on stolen artwork- If you had never seen a line, then could you draw one? Once you have seen a line, is every one you draw after seeing it stolen from the original creator of a line? Humans steal art, but we call it “inspiration.” Look at music. Look at cooking. We have all stolen ideas.
4) AI has no soul!- Neither does my frying pan, but I may use it for something in the morning.
Good luck everyone, I hope you have a wonderful day/night.
